A night in Tunisia ...

Last night, along with several of my wild, whacky and beautiful friends, my dearest ever-loving hubby and I went out to celebrate my 40th year on Earth and had a most magnificent journey to faraway lands inside of a small restaurant in north Oakland called TANJIA (wonderful place I highly recommend to anyone wanting to celebrate in this area of town). For four lovely hours into the evening we enjoyed a decadent 5-course Moroccan meal, listened to a range of desert musics and watched several rounds of bellydancing (and a few of us even got some dance lessons!) to our hearts content. We were wined, dined and shimmeyed, then given pour after graceful pour of delicious mint tea.

What more could a pixie ask for?

dAS took some, I took some. We were trying to keep away from using flash so as not to interrupt the mood and perfect ambience of the place so there are some rather, ahh-um, interesting "movement" shots. I am still learning the settings on this camera but found one that worked pretty well even though some of them have a very strange and somewhat psychedelic effect because of movement with slow shutter speed, but I think they sort of look like little paintings (*ala Dali or in some cases, Toulouse Lautrec)

mmmmm that food was good....
