Drugz on the tube...

Two for Thursday...

One of my co-workers just told me about a reality-tv-type show that's been running on Showtime called WEEDS that she's been watching lately and seems to be quite amused by it. I'm not going to start paying for a premium channel just to watch that one show so I'll just take her word for it, but it does amuse me to see humorous herb-related situations being presented over the airwaves in some fashion (something's got to balance out those idiotic public service announcements-- you know the one where the kid absentmindedly forgets to pick up his younger brother because he was too busy toking on the bong--- spare me!)

Here's more info about WEEDS

Nancy Botwin struggles with the sudden death of her husband and agonizes over how she'll support and raise two young boys on her own. Without any discernable career skills, the widow Botwin finds good paying work as the local pot dealer in the pristine, new LA suburb known as Agrestic. There's definitely a double meaning when this girl puts on her Mary Janes.

here's what's coming up on the next episode:

Nancy's life takes a strange twist when she turns down the advances of an interested single father, Peter but engages in a brief sexual encounter with a threatening, competing pot dealer. With Nancy out of the house, Andy and Doug get into her stash and make a mess in stoned pursuit of a rat in the wall.

ALSO...

BNN (Dutch TV, public broadcasting network) in early October there will be a feature on a show called "Try Before You Die" where someone will take heroin (pill form) and use LSD live on the air. (source)

I'm still waiting for the show where people from all around the world come together to discuss the possibilities of using mind-expanding chemicals in a more positive light instead of focusing on how illegal the substances are, or exploiting the results of improper use by youth culture (who are mainly without guidance or proper resources for education on these subjects). I feel fortunate that during my times of early experimentation in my younger days, I was surrounded by many seasoned travellers who gave me warm and loving guidance and an open forum to discuss my fears and experiences.

The world, to me, seems to be a much stranger, harsher place today for anyone who still wishes to pursue the psychedelic realms via the means of chemicals or organic plant substances, but then I suppose it's all in what you make of it. I will say one thing though--- screw this WAR ON DRUGS shite and all of the bass-turds helping to promote it. Life must really suck for them and it's really too bad they don't know how to switch it ON and feel good for a change, but instead must use their lifetimes to make others miserable. Love is the drug. Seriously...
