Eirún Sigurðardóttir (1971).
They have been working together since they graduated from The Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts in 1996. Since then they have lived and studied in New York, Berlin, Copenhagen and are currently based in Reykjavík.
They work in all possible media: performance, video, installation, etc. believing in the power of collaboration.

I would very much like to see this entire program so I'll be checking my local PBS station to see if it will be aired. I have to say I don't agree that we have the power to "save" the planet at this point in the game but the questions "why are we here?" and "what is our purpose?" are interesting to ponder, nevertheless.
Morph Lab
Above are 16 artificial organisms called BioMorphs. Like all organisms, morphs have a genotype and a phenotype. The genotype of a BioMorph is an array of values that describe how its development should be carried out while the phenotype is its visual appearance.

Full Moon at 29 Capricorn occurs at 4:00 a.m. PDT. Moon goes VOC after it's luminousness reachs fullness, and enters Aquarius at 6:55 a.m. Strict Capricorn Moon sets boundaries to Cancer' Sun's limitless emotions. Together they can manage business, government, family, or any institution which promotes security.This year, we experience a second Full Moon in Capricorn-Cancer, which squares Mars again, too - another opportunity to choose between making a living and making a life. If we've initiated meta changes in the last few weeks, we feel more stable and content now. If not, the issues have become clearer, the warning signs larger and louder. What's bleeping in your life? Is that inner child still tugging at your pant leg? Is your inner parent still working joylessly, too long, and too hard? Mars has been keeping pace with the last three lunations, pushing us to face the music and to compose our own. Once more, dilemmas come to the surface. Full Moons bring lux to the now - what has been in the shadow (the unconscious) - and thus offer us a potent opportunity to balance, integrate, and ascend in consciousness. You needn't dress in any but the most perfunctory manner as I myself will be wearing a military camisole from the pelvic region upwards. You Pisces, you the sign which is now home to Uranus. During this whole major time, Moon has moved from Neptune to Uranus, two of the outer planets which are associated with deep changes in consciousness. In particular, Moon represents myself in a neurasthenic frenzy just contemplating the notion that you and I might get together beneath those same bolts of lightning which are sure to set the Sugar silos aflame again. And when I say private, I mean private: you'll be shocked by what you discover about yourself. I'm shocked - when Moon encounters Uranus at midnight-the midnight rendezvous. Our day is dominated by the Sun-Saturn meeting. This is w hen Saturn gets its script for the next year from Director Sun. Saturn is authority, responsibility, proper discipline and proper hierarchy. He helps us focus on the real world, and how to make something kleiglit by lamps affixed to the underside of the bridge. You will be naked. For all intents and purposes, I could have put you in the shark tank diving-bell - but you'll get a hell of a lot more out of this experience, I guarantee you. In Leo, we focus on our central command systems, and how we can use them to develop our own authority. With Saturn in Leo, our self-authority does get called to account. Adolph Hitler was born with Saturn in Leo; so was Bill Clinton. Chiron dominates now, as he opposes Sun and Saturn. He is certain to disrupt Saturn's path of propriety during this next year. War is part of the picture, for Vesta now is on the U.S. Mars, opposing Pluto, the powers that be, who is now squaring the U.S. Neptune, as well as opposing the U.S. Mars. Persephone was the daughter who was gone into the underworld with Pluto. It was grief over her loss that caused Demeter (Ceres) to make the Lightcraft analagous to the active aspect of the psychological body, or for simplicities sake, let's call it Psyche. In the physical body (in Assiah) there are infinite sub-divisions down to the frontier of the physical world, where the particles of matter and impulses of energy are interchangeable* In the same way, the Psyche interpenetrates the body so that the upper part of the physical world percolates and influences the lower part of the psyche, and vice versa. In the macrodimensions of the Metaverse, a crisis can generate a direct contact with the Sun in Yetzirah (Psyche) but after the crisis, the connection fades, and the watcher in oneself fades back into the subconscious. The Lightpilot seeks to consciously make permanent connection with the Sun in Yetzirah. This is done by constant observation of actions, emotions and intellect, to perceive impartially the way those functions operate, and to correct and perfect their performance so as to become a true see-thing. To be the big picture, complete in all it's parts. Saturn, Sun, Chiron, Mars, planets that mean business. All of them are very prominent on the East Coast. All of them are at significant degrees, and all of them are in stressful relation to one another. This is Saturn's program for her two-year trip through Leo.

The Day of the Sun in Yetzirah, the World of Air. The Lightcraft's interactive membrane is informed directly from the E.M.F's of the Sun, which in turn is affected by the transits of it's satellites (each representing a level of vibrational resonance.) Inside each monkeysuit is another Sun, emanating its rays into the solar plexus and reflecting off the Moon below, which in turn informs and records both the earth and the sky. The Light Pilot, the H.G.A, the Egyptian Ka, is the fourth dimensional electromagnetick driver of the third dimensional Lightcraft, the Ba. But there is a Sixth dimensional metaversal solar mind which interacts with all levels and is purely an electromagnetick harmonic, a harmony based on all the other levels coming together around a center. It is eternally now and therefore timeless. The Sun never sets.
The evolution of the Metaversal song, what some refer to as the Great Work, or the Will, has as it's core the purpose of resonating this harmonic through your individual interactive Lightcraft. The earth's ionosphere (about 70 miles up) is the key. It's in direct resonance with the solar and lunar currents and it oscillates at 7.8 cycles a second. The human brain oscillates at 7.8 cycles per second when it is in a state of samadhi or meditational absorption, experiencing bliss, receiving and sending out E M waves, to be absorbed or re-radiated, and this creates all the tones, pitches, octaves, wave-lengths, colours, and hues in nature. Goethe called this ....'the Deeds and Sufferings of Light'. We are surrounded by these 'Deeds and Sufferings' of radiation, extending through the whole seventy-plus E M octaves beyond the single known octave we call visible light. Let's relax-hah! Just you try and relax with an Aries moon for the next two and one-half days, you crafty luxpert! The aspects are terrific, and we can move right along with our projects. More fire, though. Is the heat getting to you? The lunar orb being receptive and reflective, focuses the qualities of the signs and other planets to our Lightcraft. The Lunar center, and it's intimate connection with the Holographic Image Projection System, is not only the foundation for the astral plane, but is the fiery aspect of astral energy itself. According to occult science, the angels are the guardians of the seed atoms, or photons. The activities of the angels are directed to the maintenance of plant, animal, and human life on earth. To this end, their forces are focused by the wandering Moon through the twelve signs of the zodiac. Thus as the Moon measures the tides of the earth (physically and astrally), so also does she measure the soul's passage from the shores of the dream realm in eternity through the waters of the womb to the world of time, to the door of the tomb, the sasquatch stumbles upon the missile silo at dusk may overreact by becoming defensive. Yesterday's significant energetic changes continue throughout the night, and well into this day. At 5:11 a.m. PDT, Moon enters a thunderstorm which is scheduled to take place inside my pants. Really gets my donkeys up onstage. I love the way you play with my expectations, my thoughts skirting, my desires panting, my yin yanging in the clanging din. You needn't dress in any but the most perfunctory manner as I myself will be wearing a military camisole from the pelvic region upwards. You Pisces, you the sign which is now home to Uranus. During this whole major time, Moon has moved from Neptune to Uranus, two of the outer planets which are associated with deep changes in consciousness. In particular, Moon represents myself in a neurasthenic frenzy just contemplating the notion that you and I might get together beneath those same bolts of lightning which are sure to set the Sugar silos aflame again. And when I say private, I mean private: you'll be shocked by what you discover about yourself. I'm shocked - when Moon encounters Uranus at midnight-the midnight rendezvous. Our day is dominated by the Sun-Saturn meeting. This is w hen Saturn gets its script for the next year from Director Sun. Saturn is authority, responsibility, proper discipline and proper hierarchy. He helps us focus on the real world, and how to make something kleiglit by lamps affixed to the underside of the bridge. You will be naked. The Day of the Sun in Yetzirah, the World of Air. The Lightcraft's interactive membrane is informed directly from the E.M.F's of the Sun, which in turn is affected by the transits of it's satellites (each representing a level of vibrational resonance.) Inside each monkeysuit is another Sun, emanating its rays into the solar plexus and reflecting off the Moon below, which in turn informs and records both the earth and the sky. The Light Pilot, the H.G.A, the Egyptian Ka, is the fourth dimensional electromagnetick driver of the third dimensional Lightcraft, the Ba. But there is a Sixth dimensional metaversal solar mind which interacts with all levels and is purely an electromagnetick harmonic, a harmony based on all the other levels coming together around a center. It is eternally now and therefore timeless. The Sun never sets.
The evolution of the Metaversal song, what some refer to as the Great Work, or the Will, has as it's core the purpose of resonating this harmonic through your individual interactive Lightcraft. The earth's ionosphere (about 70 miles up) is the key. It's in direct resonance with the solar and lunar currents and it oscillates at 7.8 cycles a second. Let's relax-hah! Just you try and relax with an Aries moon for the next two and one-half days, you crafty luxpert! The aspects are terrific, and we can move right along with our projects. More fire, though. Is the heat getting to you? The lunar orb being receptive and reflective, focuses the qualities of the signs and other planets to our Lightcraft. The Lunar center, and it's intimate connection with the Holographic Image Projection System, is not only the foundation for the astral plane, but is the fiery aspect of astral energy itself. According to occult science, the angels are the guardians of the seed atoms, or photons. The activities of the angels are directed to the maintenance of plant, animal, and human life on earth. To this end, their forces are focused by the wandering Moon through the twelve signs of the zodiac. Thus as the Moon measures the tides of the earth (physically and astrally), so also does she measure the soul's passage from the shores of the dream realm in eternity through the waters of the womb to the world of time, to the door of the tomb, the sasquatch stumbles upon the missile silo at dusk may overreact by becoming defensive. But a more productive response to hurt feelings is to examine them so they can be healed, rather than allowing resentment to build up. Thought it might be about time to watch this video again. It really is an exquisitely beautiful piece of craftsmanship that seems to be holding up rather well through time...

Infos: Bjork's multi award winning video "All is Full of Love" was directed by Chris Cunningham who put all the digital effects work through Glassworks as he had done with his previous work with Aphex Twin. 3D artist James Mann used Avid SOFTIMAGE|3D to build movement into twin interacting androids, modelled to look like Björk. He also created robotic arms to complement live action arms that had been built for an assembly scene in the video. Pasi Johansson carried out the warping of Björk's face onto the robotic models, restoring her features to the surfaces using Discreet Logic's Flame.
Glassworks picked up the MTV 2000 Best Special Effects award for their work on the Björk video. This tops a long list of awards for the hugely successful video, which also won twice at the ITS Monitor awards (2000) as well as Best Music Video at the 1999 London Effects and Animation (LEAF) awards. The "All is Full of Love" promo also received a screening at Siggraph 1999 and was featured at the Art Futura Festival in Spain, Digital Images in Italy, the Tokyo ACM Siggraph CG Film Show in Japan, the Australian Effects and Animation Show and on Imagine TV and the Sci Fi channel in the US. Glassworks also received an award for Björk at the British Design and Art Direction Awards in 1999.

Turkish coffee inspiration
Drinking my second round of the rich dark brew, ala turca (the cardamom with a nip of honey is simply divine). Somehow this particular beverage and the bit of greensmoke inhaled earlier are just the perfect combo as I sit through yet another listen-through of WTBTN tracks. Life and all that goes on...
Been a bit preoccupied with projects over these last couple of weeks, so haven't had too much time on the box to post anywhere. Thought the least I could do around here is to update with a few photos of some of the latest...
First, I don't know if any of you remember a few months back when I discovered a peach tree had sprouted up in my backyard---well, here's what we've ended up with so far--- wow they are sweet, delicious and dripping with juice! I ate two of them today! Just look at these beauties:
Second, the packaging materials arrived yesterday for the Women Take Back the Noise project. Very excited about it, as you will probably see from the photos. Thanks to my extremely organized hubby and his sorting talents, all 1050 pieces have been stacked neatly into smaller containers and await our assembly-line of assorted band members and friends to add all of the elements into them. This will inevitably be a ton of work but I will probably document some of it here and then eventually on the soon-to-be-updated WTBTN page. Sorry I've been so sporatic with my updates on this project here but there has really been so much going on between getting the tracks in the right order and working on artwork and finding the resources (not to mention working a full-time job in between!) that I just try to do updates whenever possible-- like now.
Number three-- remember those mischevious little pishkies and their adventures? Seems they've been experimenting with a bit of rockclimbing lately. One of their little friends unfortunately fell to an untimely end by sliding off the edge of the rock and landing head-first into the bottom of a very deep cobalt flask. It was too dark down there to photograph, poor thing...
Last but not least-- how come the older I get the more I smile and laugh? With any luck by the time I'm 80 (if I live so long) my entire vocabulary will consist of nothing more than smiles and laughter. This is a weird life, indeed...

Let clarity cloud confusion when the Mercury/Neptune opposition culminates at 4:22 am PDT, perhaps giving us some amazing dreams. It's dank and celestial at the same time. It's orange and green and I'm sorry about that, but I happen to like the combination. What is the dream and what is real?, Beware of unfounded fears or sensitivity this morning. Neptune is like that. You gotta love the planet that rules both truth and illusion, the dream and the reality, clarity and confusion. Uncertainty is a principle to use to our benefit, for the unknown is the field of all possibilities. Here's somewhere you can dispense with tedious distractions. The world will go on without you for a while. Let it, I say. You'll be back there soon enough.
The Moon is in Libra today. Libra represents the period from 23 to 42 years old, when partnerships are made and balance is sought between others and oneself. On the World scale Libra is between 400 and 1100 AD, when division of the church and state took over, and the Dark Ages swept over Europe and Asia. The opposition is symbolic of the fact that in order to emerge from the unconscious, internal conflicts must be brought out into the light of day. Marriage was the primary process through which opposing countries where integrated into a whole. With the Moon in Libra we are aware of our communal relations, law, justice and balance. The 7th house (Libra) has been called the house of marriage. The key to the New Aeon of MA'AT is figuring out the new symbol for Libra, as the institution of marriage was designed as a tool by the Church to secure it's future domination. Those that cannot find this new symbol and perform these symbolic rites on themselves and their tribe, and the whole fabric of material being.
Today we have a another occultation of Jupiter by the Moon in Libra). It is through our relationship that we really get to know ourselves. Like your self today. I do. I think the record number of Jupiter occultations this year indicates the weakening of established governments, which are associated with Jupiter. This one is total throughout South America, although not visible, for it occurs in the daytime. Whether your making it, moving to it, or simply listening to it, tonight is a great musick night.
THURSDAY, JULY 14th
The Moon touches off Tuesday's Sun/Mars aspect as it opposes Mars at 7:15 am PDT. Aggressive energy is the name of the game, for Pluto sits at the same degree as these three explosive planets, and will add its violence and intensity to the party. This can jumpstart the day and, of course, bring us more opportunities to practice loving kindness. Ahem.
First Quarter Moon at 23 Libra occurs at 11:20 am, which means it must be what we at the Core refer to as the week of elemental Water in our Metaversal Lunar Calendar. Fire week began with the Cancer New Moon, encouraging us to focus on securing the ramparts. Aum-land security comes with regular meditation. Now sweet Libra comes along to say that we need allies if we are going to be ourselves. This Moon was seeded by the Cancer New Moon of a week ago. But it was also seeded, in its larger cycle, by the Solar Eclipse at 22 Libra of October 13, 2004. At that eclipse, violence by both the U.S. and Israel picked up enormously. Also, it was then that Bush refused to sign the international treaty regarding women's equality-because it mentions sexual freedom. (This sounds more like a hard-line Islamic government!) The insurgents also (of course) picked up strength. Now the next act opens. And we move into a very new (and difficult) energy field, The entire morning preceding First Quarter is active. We'll probably be up early, maybe calling friends and associates. We'll want to take the initiative in contacting people. Animals will love this day They're thrilled about it. They'll romp and squeal and butt their horns and roll on their bellies like there's no tomorrow. But mostly they'll just amble along in quiet amazement at their own pure satisfaction.
FRIDAY, JULY 15th
This is a very hard-hitting moon. Moon is in forceful Scorpio, and at the same time Scorpio's two planets, Pluto and Mars, are working together beautifully as they trine one another. Transformation of power is happening. For the next two and a half days, secret desires, hidden fears and subconscious drives surface more easily. Scorpio represents the period from 42 years old to Death, when ones sense of Time compacts and passes rapidly. Since this stage is the last in the life of the human biological machine, it's now time to transcend the confines of the mortal body and to assure continued existence, either you breed (pass on your DNA) or step out of the loop (become your DNA). On the World scale, Scorpio is between AD 1100 and AD 1500, when the Dark Ages reached their peak. This is the Time of the Crusades and the Inquisition, when Pain, Bloodshed and Oppression swept over Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, after the uneasy alliances made during Libra. This is the sign of the Shadow. Successfully navigated, one can experience healthy, flowing spontaneous sexuality, an acceptance of Death and an integration of its reality into daily life, thus gaining a sense of the immortality of consciousness.

Bio/electrick energy working through the sympathetic nervous system. Reinventing ourself. SATURDAY, JULY 16th
Finally! Saturn enters Leo! And bang-very big challenges confront us. For starters, Moon is in intense Scorpio. It is part of a very close fixed grand square, which is almost the exact degrees of the August 11, 1999 Great Solar (Apoc)-clipse. Remember that the path of this eclipse went from New York across the Atlantic, over Europe (now having many problems), the Balkans, and the Middle East, into India. The 1999 Great Solar (Apoc)-clipse was at 19 Leo, opposing Uranus in Aquarius, and squaring Saturn in Taurus and Mars in Scorpio. This is why we at the Core are living in the Post-Apocalyptic Rennaissaince. After the end, before the begin, as Chronzon was so fond of saying. Here we have Mercury opposing Neptune, Moon opposing Juno, and all squaring one another between 17-19 degrees of the fixed signs. In addition, Saturn just entered fixed sign Leo, and opposes Chiron in fixed sign Aquarius. Plus Venus in Leo makes a very close grand fire trine with Mars and Pluto. Fireworks! Fixed signs change with difficulty, conflict, and crisis, but their changes tend to be permanent.
We see here the kernel of the unfolding story of Saturn's two-year journey in Leo. Kings and Presidents fall here. Every planet and asteroid is closely involved now. That translates to everybody and to all of society. The squeeze is on. A fixed grand square can sometimes feel like a being in a pressure cooker, or being held against the wall. Hello Karl. There is no escape. In Washington DC, Juno is overhead. Juno represents fear, terror, and abuse-as well as partnership. In Taurus there can be an overwhelming fear of not getting "my due." One can never get enough. Moon in Scorpio sits at the bottom, tough and ruthless about getting what it wants. These are the two instrumental energies. We're hearing about the U.S. torture policy. The tooth fairy, Santa Clause, WorldCom profits, the Easter Bunny, al-Qaeda. The cruel, evil jerks who blew up the London subway last week, despite appropriating al-Qaeda's name for their website and T-shirts, have about as much to do with al-Qaeda as a Beatles tribute band has to do with the Fab Four.For all the horror, hoopla and hair-pulling, this was no September 11. Timmy McVeigh slaughtered a heck of a lot more people in Oklahoma City with his cow-poop bomb. I'm not belittling the heartbreaking hideousness of this crime, but let's get the facts straight. If al-Qaeda is the Panzer Division of terrorism, these London bombers were terrorism's Cub Scouts. We're talking a few pounds of nitro wired to a clock -- a design badly copied off the Internet. A witness watched some Arabic-looking teenager nervously checking his bag on a bus which, London's un-hysterical police now believe, he accidentally triggered, blowing apart himself and a bunch of unlucky commuters.
Al-Qaeda this ain't. All the evidence is that this half-assed attack was the work of some poor young Muslim schmucks, possibly whipped into a frenzy by the mewling mullah of Finsbury Park, Omar Bakri Mohammed, a cleric who enjoyed the comfortable middle-class dullness of England during the week while on weekends preaching, "a 9/11, day after day after day" to punish his Western hosts. It's not al-Qaeda, but for George and Tony, it's good enough. Blair's Foreign Secretary dramatically dashed out to tell us that the explosions had the "hallmarks of al-Qaeda." Our Commander in Chief, looking as commanding as possible (no reading of kiddie stories this time), could not have been more satisfied. The "hallmarks of al-Qaeda"? That's not true and Blair knows it. And Bush knows it. And that's no little matter, my friends. Because Blair and Bush are al-Qaeda junkies. They've sold us on everything from fingerprinting five-year olds to invading Baghdad to tolerating plummeting paychecks all on the slick line that we are under attack by a well-trained, well-armed, well-funded hidden army called al-Qaeda. But our War President and War Prime Minister are having a little problem with their war on terror. The enemy's gone AWOL. Except when we go LOOKING for trouble -- as in invading a Mesopotamian country -- trouble pretty much stopped looking for us. Even September 11. Forgive me for pointing this out, but no matter how horrific, it was in the end the deed of a couple dozen fundamentalist fruitcakes with box-cutters hankering for a hot time with virgins in the next life who got "lucky." Yes, unlike the London attack, the "luck" of the September 11 hijackers required the sick genius of monied operatives and a Washington administration that operated with eyes wide shut toward Saudi gangsterism.
But now al-Qaeda's luck's run out, not because Bush has us taking off our shoes in airports, but because, overwhelmingly, Muslims in this world really have no attraction to killing kids or commuters. For Bush and Blair, organized terror's diminishing powers was a political problem -- until last week, when the al-Queda addicts of the White House and Downing Street got a new terror fix. Even if it wasn't the real al-Qaeda, it was enough for them to mainline into the body politic a big, fat dose of fear. Now, with world media all jumped up on its latest fear high, Bush and Blair can resume their sales pitch: more weaponry, less liberty. FDR calmed a nation when he said, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." But the Bush and Blair slogan is, "We have nothing to sell but fear itself."

Moon is traveling through Sag, with excellent aspects. Our Lady Luna enters Sagittarius at 1:57 p.m. Sagittarius represents, on the level of the first octave, the period between Conception and 7 weeks, the first Lunar month after the sperm reaches the egg, and is a compacted pattern at a molecular time scale of the entire life of the cellular body. The embryo develops in parallel with the earlier phases of evolution, retaining memory of these structures in the brain. On the level of the fourth octave (see Chapter 9 of the Metaversal Lightcraft Training Manual for more on the Four Octaves), Sagittarius represents Initiation beyond the realms of Death (Scorpio). On the World scale, Sag occupies the period between AD 1500 and AD 1750, The Renaissance. This was the time when astrology, mathematics, musick and geometry were understood as divine techniques for communicating with the Soul of the World. With the Moon in Sagittarius we are into philosophical speculation, adventure, and foreign influences, and actions that expand the awareness through gathering unfamiliar experiences. TUESDAY, JULY 19th
Moon in Capricorn is sending its monthly transmission from Galactic Center. By tonight the Moon is visible along the shaft of the arrow in the constellation of the Archer. The tip of this Arrow points directly at Galactic Center. Also worth noting is Venus to about 3.5 degrees to the right of Regulus, the heart of the Lion, reminding us of the importance of loving ourselves and the divinity we all carry within us. Venus is now only 45 degrees away from Jupiter, catching up to Jupiter on Sep 2. It is worth keeping an eye on these two planets as the distance between them closes. Venus outshines Jupiter although both are easy to spot as the brightest planets currently in the night sky.

Venus in Leo and Mars in Aries trine each other with Pluto in Sagittarius completing a Grand Trine in fire inspiring our hearts and minds with expansive heart felt ideas that when we act upon them are designed to take us into new territory. Fullest rise of the Moon is tonight with the exact Full Moon at 4 am PDT tomorrow morning. This means the Moon is rising closest to Sunset tonight about 20 to 30 minutes before Sunset depending on your horizon line. This is the closest Full Moon to Earth this year and may appear especially large as was last month's Full Moon. The Moon is in Libra today. Libra represents the period from 23 to 42 years old, when partnerships are made and balance is sought between others and oneself. The Moon touches off Tuesday's Sun/Mars aspect as it opposes Mars at 7:15 am PDT. Aggressive energy is the name of the game, for Pluto sits at the same degree as these three explosive planets, and will add its violence and intensity to the party. This can jumpstart the day and, of course, bring us more opportunities to practice loving kindness. Ahem.
First Quarter Moon at 23 Libra occurs at 11:20 am, which means it must be what we at the Core refer to as the week of elemental Water in our Metaversal Lunar Calendar. Fire week began with the Cancer New Moon, encouraging us to focus on securing the ramparts. Aum-land security comes with regular meditation. Now sweet Libra comes along to say that we need allies if we are going to be ourselves. This Moon was seeded by the Cancer New Moon of a week ago. But it was also seeded, in its larger cycle, by the Solar Eclipse at 22 Libra of October 13, 2004. At that eclipse, violence by both the U.S. and Israel picked up enormously. Also, it was then that Bush refused to sign the international treaty regarding women's equality-because it mentions sexual freedom. (This sounds more like a hard-line Islamic government!) The insurgents also (of course) picked up strength. Now the next act opens. And we move into a very new (and difficult) energy field, The entire morning preceding First Quarter is active. We'll probably be up early, maybe calling friends and associates. We'll want to take the initiative in contacting people. Animals will love this day They're thrilled about it. They'll romp and squeal and butt their horns and roll on their bellies like there's no tomorrow. But mostly they'll just amble along in quiet amazement at their own pure satisfaction.

This is a very hard-hitting moon. Moon is in forceful Scorpio, and at the same time Scorpio's two planets, Pluto and Mars, are working together beautifully as they trine one another. Finally! Saturn enters Leo! And bang-very big challenges confront us. For starters, Moon is in intense Scorpio. It is part of a very close fixed grand square, which is almost the exact degrees of the August 11, 1999 Great Solar (Apoc)-clipse. Remember that the path of this eclipse went from New York across the Atlantic, over Europe (now having many problems), the Balkans, and the Middle East, into India. The 1999 Great Solar (Apoc)-clipse was at 19 Leo, opposing Uranus in Aquarius, and squaring Saturn in Taurus and Mars in Scorpio. This is why we at the Core are living in the Post-Apocalyptic Rennaissaince. After the end, before the begin, as Chronzon was so fond of saying. Here we have Mercury opposing Neptune, Moon opposing Juno, and all squaring one another between 17-19 degrees of the fixed signs. In addition, Saturn just entered fixed sign Leo, and opposes Chiron in fixed sign Aquarius. Plus Venus in Leo makes a very close grand fire trine with Mars and Pluto. Fireworks! Fixed signs change with difficulty, conflict, and crisis, but their changes tend to be permanent.
We see here the kernel of the unfolding story of Saturn's two-year journey in Leo. Kings and Presidents fall here. Every planet and asteroid is closely involved now. Thai Elephant Orchestra
Thanks to my friend Chardman who noticed the last post here about the elephant who could sound like a truck and pointed me to the Thai Elephant Orchestra which consists of elephants in the Thai jungle playing specially designed musical instruments. The elephants improvise the music themselves. The Thai Elephant Orchestra was co-founded by Richard Lair of the Thai Elephant Conservation Center in Lampang and performer, composer Dave Soldier. Half of the profits go to the Conservation Center.

Elephant Mimics Truck Sounds
Mlaika is a 10-year-old adolescent female African elephant living in Kenya in a group of semi-captive elephants. During the day she makes sounds you might expect.
But she moonlights as a truck.
"When she is with the other elephants, she makes normal elephant sounds," says Stephanie Watwood of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. "But at night, when she is by herself, she can hear the trucks from a nearby highway and imitates their sounds."
Mlaika is one of two African elephants scientists have found making strange sounds. The other one chirps.
Watwood, who co-authored a recent study on the pachyderms bizarre copycat behavior, believes the elephants have learned to make sounds outside their normal repertoire in an attempt to better relate with their neighbors.
But why would an elephant imitate the sound of a truck? Watwood has a couple of suggestions.
"Perhaps it sounded like a distant elephant. She probably made the sounds to try and communicate with it," Watwood told LiveScience.
But it's hard to know what an elephant is thinking, and the creature's reasoning could be even simpler. "She may have been bored and it was something to do," Watwood suggests.
Groups within herds or larger populations often identify other group members using a unique call. Animals such as dolphins, whales, humans, bats and some birds all do this, but no one knew elephants did it too.
"Making a group sound could make it easier to identify other members of the group," Watwood said. "We sometimes see this with other animals – it may be that elephants do this too."
This could certainly be the case for Calimero, a 23-year-old male African elephant who spent 18 years living with two female Asian elephants in a Swiss zoo. To get along with the ladies, Calimero learned to make a chirp-like call that is commonly used by Asian elephants.
African elephants don't make this sound, but now Calimero very rarely makes any sound other than the chirp call. This research was published earlier this year in the journal Nature.
These findings, in combination with recent studies at Sussex University that show elephants can remember calls from other elephants, suggest the beasts may use vocal learning to develop calls to maintain individual-specific social relationships.

450 Sheep Jump to Their Deaths in Turkey
(Fri Jul 8) ISTANBUL, Turkey - First one sheep jumped to its death. Then stunned Turkish shepherds, who had left the herd to graze while they had breakfast, watched as nearly 1,500 others followed, each leaping off the same cliff, Turkish media reported.
In the end, 450 dead animals lay on top of one another in a billowy white pile, the Aksam newspaper said. Those who jumped later were saved as the pile got higher and the fall more cushioned, Aksam reported.
"There's nothing we can do. They're all wasted," Nevzat Bayhan, a member of one of 26 families whose sheep were grazing together in the herd, was quoted as saying by Aksam.
The estimated loss to families in the town of Gevas, located in Van province in eastern Turkey, tops $100,000, a significant amount of money in a country where average GDP per head is around $2,700.

Today's energy is much like yesterday's, but tonight is exciting. During the next two days, there is apt to be miscommunication with loved ones. SATURDAY, JULY 9th
It is not a day for stumbling across lawns with a pitchfork in your back. Nevertheless, you may wish to take advantage of a claustrophilic Scorpio colleague's invitation to lunch. Moon remains in dramatic Leo, with fire and spirit strong. It has just passed over Venus and Mercury, who have their conjunction early this morning at 14 Leo. This conjunction speaks to the love of pleasure and, in Leo,luxury. It also relates to creative communication, and in Leo, communication which will promote one's own story. Ego can be very tied up in communication, and one can use communication for self-aggrandizement and for self-promotion. However, Venus and Mercury both just met with Saturn, and Saturn can throw obstacles in their paths, and make communication difficult. In addition, Venus and Mercury now square Juno in Taurus-exactly. This adds a large element of greed to the conjunction. Art would be a great way to express these energies, particularly something with form, like sculpture, or color, like painting, or line, like architecture.
One day, you will go where crows go and you will know what the crows know. After you have learned all their secrets and think the way they do and your love caresses their feathers like the walls of a midnight clock. But not today. This is an assertive day. Mars energy is very strong, for the Sun has begun its square of Mars, vitalizing it, and Mars conjoins North Node, point of destiny. Avoid extremes today and seek the middle ground and balance short-term impulses with long-term responsibilities, and don't hesitate, meditate, because not only is stable gravity the wind of magnetism permitted by fractal symmetry to go BETWEEN frequencies in a cascade, but magnetism is also actually the WIND ON WHICH LOVE TRAVELS.

Moon travels in busy Virgo. Virgo represents the period from 13 to 23 years old, when mental growth dominates our lives and many attend institutes of higher learning. Many binding choices are made and the rules and details of society are learned. On the World scale Virgo is between 800 BC and AD 400, when classical civilizations like Greece and Rome flourished, when culture, science, philosophy, politics dominated. By AD 300 the Books of the New Testament were chosen to support the beliefs of the Christians who formed the political organization of the Church. The naive excepted the surface value, while initiates were forced to hide (occult) their rituals and teachings. Until now. With the Moon in Virgo, it's a good time to do home repairs, detail work, to eat healthy, and recreate yourself. Tonight we may be restless, and feel a need to escape loved ones. impressive not only for their resemblance to those little though still larger than average street loved ones, but also for their harrowing sadness.
MONDAY, JULY 11th
Today's energy is much like yesterday's, but tonight is exciting. During the next two days, there is apt to be miscommunication with loved ones. Along with the extra aggressiveness in the air, that could lead to misunderstandings and fights. Put conflicts on hold for a few days, until the air clears a bit. I believe this is more than zen poetry, and is in fact, the actual recipe for the yummy slip knots you make with the compressible flux lines of the Metaverse to tie up the origin of matter from energy. The Venus/Neptune opposition comes to fruition this evening. We have been feeling this aspect since it was touched off by the Moon on the 8th and will continue to do so through the Mercury opposition to Neptune on the 13th.
Neptune represents a highly spiritual frequency that can be difficult to translate on this earthly plane. It is conveyed more easily when we share music with one another. Music is the universal language and allows us to attune with one another in ways that words won't allow. Another way to express this aspect would be through compassionate and loving service, sharing of our regal selves in ways that benefit the whole - after all we are talking about the energy of Venus in Leo and Neptune in Aquarius. Confusion and self deception enter into the equation if the ego can't surrender to a Higher Self. Using mood altering substances can lead to low self worth and exacerbates any problematic situations.
TUESDAY, JULY 12th
The Sun at 21 Cancer squares Mars at 21 Aries today at 4:12 pm PDT. This provides us with ample opportunities to transform anger into clarity and wisdom. Is our ego a little too much in charge of us today, our self-will run riot? We may be reminded of the need to just practice kindness with our family members, the people we most often want to change or control.As an exercise, cut the heads off three Customs Officers (for those living in the interior, Customer Service Representatives will do) and place them in the glove compartment of a stalled and abandoned car. If they don't fit, keep trying. Another way of distracting the Gaian Mind is to push cucumbers through the eye sockets of dead grizzlies while dressed as a test pattern and singing the lyrics to 'Skating With Willie'. Fringe benefit of this experimental behaviour: you'll be the secret envy of anyone who ever professed to know what you were going to do next. Wax fingers, hammocks, builders of bridges, trinkets - they all end in snakes or addiction; only you, with your gauche aromas and savoir faire, end up stumbling through the supermarket with an evacuated wasp nest on your head. It could have been otherwise but it wasn't. There are certain things we are meant to understand. How they got here is anyones guess.
