ALTERED STATE

When it first comes on
It feels odd
To experience universe
From just one point of view
To navigate spacetime
In just one mind and body.

When it first comes on
It seems odd
To make one place in cosmos special
To feel one moment--now--is real.

When it first comes on
It seems strong
To be kicked out of eternity into time.
To feel suddenly ignorant and helpless
To be gripped by strange laws
Not of my own making.

When it first comes on
It feels wrong
Not to be connected to All of You
Not to experience the ever-present
Schoolyard playfulness of sentient beings.

When it first comes on
It feels long
More than twenty thousand nights
I've switched off self and still come back.
Did I fail to read the warning on the box top?
Is this the fabled Nightmare Trip that never ends?

Custom Creature Taxidermy

I'm trying to find the perfect gift for a certain "someone"... hrmmmm... I can't decide between the Bisected Bull Testicle or the Winged Cats...

Mmmmm... Lunch, anyone?

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Sarina Brewer

This artist's story begins as an unassuming science nerd who attended art school to study painting and sculpture at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, earning a BFA in 1992. The artist principally worked with oil paint, found objects and animal remains. Incorporating animal remains into sculpture and abstract painting for over a decade gradually evolved into the art of taxidermy. Although now a licensed taxidermist engaged in free-lance projects for various educational institutions and museums, the artist primarily concentrates on creating her outlandish reveries of fur and flesh.

Tale of tribute to Moog

Anaglyph over at Tetherd Cow has a lovely tribute written in honor of the late Bob Moog. It's really amazing how many lives Moog affected during his time here on Earth. He will not be forgotten, and hopefully many more generations to come will enjoy his legacy and continue to create music with the tools he left behind.

Istanbul: Timeless City

This is a lovely little video travel advertisement (mpeg-video, approx. 6MB) for Istanbul that I found while rummaging through this immense Turkish online archive where you will also find some other delights like folktales and such (PDF format).

(I admit, I keep watching this little video advert over and over again-- wish I could jump through the screen and just land myself in Istanbul! They must have had so much fun making this video-- love that big giant drum and the woman's headdress at the end--- yum...)

"Diamond" Jim Parker

and his Little World of Miniatures (video tour)

"Circus people never really stop being circus people"

About "Diamond" Jim Parker (1938-2003)

Born in Hastings, Nebraska, in 1938, "Diamond" Jim Parker first got exposed to the circus by his father when he took him to the Shriners' Circus as it passed through town. He noticed how circus people loved their animals and it was this relationship that initially caused him to want to join the circus. His 20-year Navy career started in 1957 which subsequently sent him Hawaii. While in Hawaii, Parker met up with some old circus friends he knew as a child. One of his friends, a stilt-walker, dressed Parker up as a clown to help with their circus' ticket sales. This event became his first performance as a clown. CONTINUE...

Bob Moog (1934-2005)

From the Moog website:
Bob's Body Leaves Us

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — August 21, 2005 — Bob died this afternoon at his home in Asheville, N.C. He was 71. Bob was diagnosed with brain cancer (glioblastoma multiforme or GBM) in late April 2005. He had received both radiation treatment and chemotherapy to help combat the disease. He is survived by his wife, Ileana, his five children, Laura Moog Lanier, Matthew Moog, Michelle Moog-Koussa, Renee Moog, and Miranda Richmond; and the mother of his children, Shirleigh Moog.

Bob was warm and outgoing. He enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. He especially appreciated what Ileana referred to as "the magical connection" between music-makers and their instruments.

A public Memorial Celebration is planned for The Orange Peel for noon, Wednesday, August 24th. Fans and friends can also direct their sympathies or remembrances to Caring Bridge

Bob's family has established The Bob Moog Memorial Fund dedicated to the Advancement of Electronic Music in his memory. Many of his longtime collaborators including musicians, engineers and educators have agreed to sit on its executive board including David Borden, Wendy Carlos, Joel Chadabe, John Eaton, David Mash, and Rick Wakeman. For more information about the foundation, contact Matthew Moog at mattmoog@yahoo.com.

We'll miss you Bob.

'Merika, Land of the Dead...

Some of us are well aware of what Mark Morford so eloquently sums up in his latest piece:

Bring out yer dead -- plague is already here

You want to feel as if you might as well be in Tucson or Boise or Modesto or Wichita or Muncie and it no longer freakin' matters because we as a nation have lost all sense of community and place? Why, just pull over, baby. Take the next exit. Right here, this very one.

There it is, yet another big-box mega strip mall, a giant beacon of glorious community decay, a wilted exclamation point of consumerism gone wild. This is America. You have arrived. You are home. Eat it and smile.

Metaversal Full Moon Report (August 19-25)

Brought to you loud-and-clear, by Johannes Ayres...

THE METAVERSAL LIGHTCRAFT
HYPER-ABYSSIC ASTROLOGY FORECAST
AND LIGHT SPECIFIC YOGA PLATFORM

THE WORLD OF YETZIRAH, THE ACTIVE BODY
-AIRWEEK FORECAST-
August 19th to August 25th

In where we utilize the powers of active Air, in the kabbalistic World of Yetzirah. This week represents the formative period of the elemental Lunar cycle. Go forth into the World and actively create the vision obtained last week in the Waters of Briah. As an exercise this week, cut the beards off three Customs Officers (for those living in the interior, Customer Service Representatives will do) and place their whiskers in the glove compartment of a stalled and abandoned car. If they don't fit, keep trying. Another way of distracting your Gaian Mind is to push zucchini through the mail slots of new neighbors while dressed as a bumblebee and singing the lyrics to 'What's New Pussycat'. Fringe benefit of this experimental behaviour: you'll be the secret envy of anyone who ever professed to know what you were going to do next. During the Aquarius Full Moon you can turn me to salt, dye me blue, and let the cows lick me into the homunculus of remorse, whence I will go about the countryside ejaculating Your name through kitchen windows. And the people will say, 'Look out, it's him again.' And, typically, there will be those among them who will say, 'Let's kick him to death.' And still others will countermand them, saying, 'No - let's just maim him and send him on his way.' Citizens and townsfolk, can you not see the sign around my diminishing neck? LOCK UP YOUR DOUBTERS: SHE IS RISEN, LIKE THE WOBBLY ROD OF MAN AS IT DOWSETH THE FLUIDIFEROUS CHALICE OF THE EMPERESS! THE EMPRESS.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 19
Full Moon at 27 Aquarius occurs at 11:53 a.m. PDT. Space curves, time spirals, infinity dances with eternity. Each month brings a Full Moon, and each one is different. With the Sun in Leo and the Moon in Aquarius, the spotlight is on our personal and social destiny - what we desire to express as individuals and what we are choosing to experience as Humankind. Enormous forces are massed against our individuality, forces that can steam roller-pidgeon hole us into dancing monkeys. Aquarius and conformity go together like peanut butter and motor-oil. The quest for the Self, who we really are, necessitates forsaking the familiar. Wax elf ears, ham-hocks, builders of bridges, trinkets - they all end in snakes or addiction; only you, with your gauche aromas and savoir faire, end up stumbling through the supermarket with an evacuated wasp nest on your head. We must transcend parental and social conditioning, herd and tribal consciousness. Each time we go beyond the bounds of convention, we gain a larger perspective and a greater ability to serve. It could have been otherwise but it wasn't. There are certain things we are meant to understand. They're trying to see if they can blow up the Full Moon without explosives, and they have plunked themselves down on the unmade seabed. That part I understand, but how did that lecherous porpoise seduce a horse? How they got here is anyone's guess.

This Full Moon illuminates where we are now - where we are challenging the status quo, where we are fighting the caca-dragons of fear, and where we are ready to give our gifts to the Metaverse. The house in your natal chart occupied by the transiting Sun in Leo spotlights the area of life where you are ready to play a starring role; the house position of the transiting Moon in Aquarius signifies where you are discovering more kinship and synergistic power with others. Full Moons are oppositions and illuminate the shadow side of each sign involved. The brighter the light, the darker the shadow. Leo rules the will of the individual; its shadow is self-centeredness. Aquarius rules the will of the collective; its shadow is hypocrisy. The insecure Leo demands an audience; the fearful Aquarian clings to alienation. This Full Moon casts light on where we are holding onto old defenses and the unconscious payoffs they offer. And when I am done my wanderings, I too will lie upon those dewavèd sands, crawled upon by starfish radiant beneath the earth's shadow, and there will I surrender myself to the first tongues of water, a salt doll waiting for its ocean.

The Sabian Symbol for 27 Aquarius is lovely:

"AN ANCIENT POTTERY BOWL FILLED WITH FRESH VIOLETS. The importance of traditional skills and artistic values deeply rooted in humans' deepest feelings as frames of reference for humans' most authentic emotions. Violets have often been considered symbols of modesty and humility-values which were understood to be the mark of true womanhood. DELICACY OF FEELING."

After her magnificent fullness, Moon goes VOC until she enters Pisces at 6:52 p.m. Musick would be just right tonight.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 20
This is a great day to connect with, appreciate, and seek to understand nature in all her mysterious complexity. She is, after all, our mother and our lifeline. This Full Moon window, in the month of the August, is the perfect time to contemplate and to honor all of nature. So why have these words come to you? That's easy: to fill your waterbed with electric eels. It's a tradition borrowed from the Romans, our nextdoor neighbours who taught me bridge. I eventually got even with them by teaching their cat to piss whenever they changed channels. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's wicker.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 21
Between dark and light the angles of times are best manifest at their balance, so invoke Apollo, Ra, or the baby-faced Sun god from the Teletubbies into your heart Chakra today. Sunday is always a good day integrate all the planets in our personal Lightcraft. In the World of Yetzirah, Air, the Lightcraft is analogous to the active aspect of the psychological body, or for simplicities sake, let's call it Psyche. In the physical body (in Assiah) there are infinite subdivisions down to the frontier of the physical world, where the particles of matter and impulses of energy are interchangeable. In the same way, the Psyche interpenetrates the body so that the upper part of the physical world percolates and influences the lower part of the psyche, and vice versa. In the macrodimensions of the Metaverse, a crisis can generate a direct contact with the Sun in Yetzirah (Psyche) but after the crisis, the connection fades, and the watcher in oneself fades back into the subconscious. The Lightpilot seeks to consciously make permanent connection with the Sun in Yetzirah. This is done by constant observation of actions, emotions and intellect, to perceive impartially the way those functions operate, and to correct and perfect their performance so as to become a true seething. To be the big picture, complete in all its parts. This is a free day, ours to spend as the spirit moves us. Moon is VOC until 4:01 p.m. PDT, and it is in go-with-the-flow Pisces. Let intuition rule. When he claims he will destroy the world with a bucket of fish heads, will they put him away because they think he is crazy or because they think he might succeed? Even above water there are secrets at the heart of Nature that'd make you weep in agony.

MONDAY, AUGUST 22
Projecting Light Specific purple or octarine (a particular shade of electric pinkish purple) into your forehead and facing West, activate the Ajna Holographic Image Projection System (third eye), then invoke blessed Gabriel. Diana, or Sailor Moon into your Brow Chakra. It's the Moon's day in the week of active Air and the body in motion. The lunar orb being receptive and reflective, focuses the qualities of the signs and other planets to our personal Lightcraft. The Lunar center, and its intimate connection with the Holographic Image Projection System, is not only the foundation for the astral plane, but is the fiery aspect of astral energy itself. The Sun rises with our Lady Luna in rambunctious Aries, and we may be up early and on the go. Late today, Sun enters Virgo, and after that we simply cannot sit still. Virgo represents the period from 13 to 23 years old, when mental growth dominates our lives and many attend institutes of higher learning. Many binding choices are made and the rules and details of society are learned. On the World scale Virgo is between 800 BC and AD 400, when classical civilizations like Greece and Rome flourished, when culture, science, philosophy, politics dominated. By AD 300 the Books of the New Testament were chosen to support the beliefs of the Christians who formed the political organization of the Church. The naive excepted the surface value, while initiates were forced to hide (occult) their rituals and teachings. Until now. Even above Earth, there are secrets at the heart of Nature that'd make you laugh till you stopped.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 23
The Day of Mars in the Week of active Air, finds the red planet in earth oriented Taurus. Our psycho-sexual Martian juice can be used now to focus wellness in our bodies, create foundations in our lives or this same energy can turn back on itself in a destructive, distorted shadow play which causes our descent into the turbulent waters of emotional repression. Which way you gonna go? I say, go forth boldly into the world today and actively create the future. Avoid petty conflict over ownership of material objects these days. The underside of everything is in short supply. You yourself may become overly touchy when it comes to your body. Only then will the provisional gods you've held behind plexiglas step forth with new recipes for vegan spare-ribs, and heaven knows what other wonders. Tear down the pyramids and let whales dine on the mummies of kings! Watch out for petty ego problems along these lines. Is your Martian energy burning like a fuel tank on a crashed jet in the desert? Or burning like a sputtering flame on a wet candle? Or burning steady like a presto-log in the hearth of the Almighty? It all depends on the quality of your fuel, and the proper fuel/air ratio. When your body (93 percent seawater) is nourished by fiery insight, MA'AT has been achieved. Then your fire is not frightening and lethal, but glowing with placid contentment. The Moon joins Mars in Taurus late this evening and remains there until the early morning hours on Friday, transmitting the mysteries of intimacy, receivership, beauty, and aesthetics.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24
The waning disseminating Moon is conjunct Mars (14 Taurus) near the astrological cross-quarter - between the Autumnal Equinox and the Summer Solstice - known as Beltane. The duo will be visible about four hours after Sunset in the East North East (ENE) area of the sky. We are now experiencing the final integration phase of the current Mars cycle completing the quest for those vegan spare-ribs. Everything must go. The monkeys saw this coming and stayed in the trees, but now they descend to raze our mini-golf shrines and cut loose our pets from their leashes within and answering the question of how to truly help and heal? The new Mars quest is to discover a true experience and understanding of beauty, sacred pleasure and intimacy as not only an art form but also an important aspect of the evolutionary path to lacework nerve-cathedrals of confounding microcircuitous elegance, fabulously vivid and animated beyond belief.

A new paragraph has begun, right on cue. It has three sentences but one of them is missing.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 25
Mercury (15 Leo) squares Mars (15 Taurus) in the range of two cross-quarter points. Mercury is at the Lammas or Lughnasah cross-quarter between the June Solstice and September Equinox. Mars is located at the Beltane cross-quarter between the March Equinox and the June Solstice. Mercury in Leo symbolizes the quick intuitive expressions of mind. Mars in Taurus is learning to savor and enjoy the fullest pleasures of beauty and intimacy. This timing for up to two days before and after today may produce restlessness to get things done more quickly. Releasing any addictions to results (especially rapid results) is helpful and may alleviate potential conflicts and anger that ultimately are beyond our control anyway. Using the energy of this timing can be productive and inspired when we remember to be grateful for what IS and what it is teaching us about ourselves. If we allow irritation, anger, impulsive reactions, and pressure to get things accomplished quickly to drive our actions then we set ourselves up for disappointment and even possible injuries. Enjoy and savor the moment whenever possible. A single missed opportunity could make subjects nail goldfish to doorjambs, a second could make them cranky and a third stimulates the appetite to such an extent you'd better knock their heads together quick as a flash.

'Johannes', you might snort, 'you just write the first thing that comes into your head, don't you...

Radio 1920's Style...

I don't know what it is about gray, cloudy Mondays but I always get a hankering to hear musics from the 1920's. Today I was in luck as I searched and found what I was looking for-- almost immediately! (looks like the "surfin' angels" are in my court today!)

Check this out for your listening pleasure:

This site is devoted to vintage music from the early decades of the 20th Century. All recordings have been transcribed into streaming Real Audio from the original 78 rpm discs in my personal collection. It is my hope that this site will help further the creation of a new generation of enthusiasts for an exciting, vibrant and, sadly, all but forgotten era of American popular culture.

Shibusa Shirazu Orchestra

This looks like my kinda party... Big, loud Japanese improv complete with Butoh and burlesque dancers AND they've jammed with Sun Ra, holy smokes!

Please let us introduce ourselves.

Just like our japanese name 'Shibusashirazu' (loosely translated: "Never Be Cool") says, we don't stay within the 'cool' frame of jazz bigbands. We reach over into Rock, Japanese Enka, Japanese Pops, Latin, Folk Music, Groove, House and - let's not forget - Jazz.

Our lineup consists of about 20 musicians - the most skillful and creative players in Japan - as well as singers, butoh-dancers, groovedance girls, artists and actors/JapTrad performers. In addition we turn the stage itself into a piece of art with live painting, japanimation screens, stage decoration, and balloon creatures (e.g. a flying dragon of 20m length!). In short, our stage is a big interaction of multimedia, art and improvised music. We are original, and we dare to say: No other band like us exists anywhere on the planet...

Shibusahirazu orchestra has formed since 1988 by Daisuke Fuwa (free jazz bassist).

In the beginning, he gathered many musicians to provide the music for an avant-garde theater group Hakken no Kai. And after, Shibusashirazu has got active in live performance between Japan and Europe. We play everyday changing a physique flexibly, from a mini jam session group at Club gigs to a large-scale band at many international jazz/rock festivals.

Many of Shibusashirazu members are well known as the most popular and excellent performers; e.g. Hiroaki Katayama (ts) and more.

The Father_ACME Radio Hour
Show #8 – 12 August 2005

A night in Tunisia ...

Last night, along with several of my wild, whacky and beautiful friends, my dearest ever-loving hubby and I went out to celebrate my 40th year on Earth and had a most magnificent journey to faraway lands inside of a small restaurant in north Oakland called TANJIA (wonderful place I highly recommend to anyone wanting to celebrate in this area of town). For four lovely hours into the evening we enjoyed a decadent 5-course Moroccan meal, listened to a range of desert musics and watched several rounds of bellydancing (and a few of us even got some dance lessons!) to our hearts content. We were wined, dined and shimmeyed, then given pour after graceful pour of delicious mint tea.

What more could a pixie ask for?

Here's a link to the entire album of photos from last night:
http://tinyurl.com/74vlj

dAS took some, I took some. We were trying to keep away from using flash so as not to interrupt the mood and perfect ambience of the place so there are some rather, ahh-um, interesting "movement" shots. I am still learning the settings on this camera but found one that worked pretty well even though some of them have a very strange and somewhat psychedelic effect because of movement with slow shutter speed, but I think they sort of look like little paintings (*ala Dali or in some cases, Toulouse Lautrec)

mmmmm that food was good....

Metaversal Waterweek (August 12-18)

Another illuminating report from our metaversal "field expert" Johannes Ayres...

THE METAVERSAL LIGHTCRAFT
HYPER-ABYSSIC ASTROLOGY FORECAST
AND LIGHT SPECIFIC YOGA PLATFORM

-WATERWEEK FORECAST-
August 12th to August 18th

FRIDAY, AUGUST 12
There's a buzz in the air this morning with Mercury quincunx Uranus. Conversations go askew, information comes to us at odd angles, and nerves all a jangle. A Mercury-Venus semi-square at the same time makes communication edgy. Being open-minded helps us to react without snapping and to adjust to the unexpected with graciousness rather than anger. The Moon continues in Scorpio, and is keeps us very busy. This afternoon she squares Sun and Neptune, enhancing the stressful fixed-sign (thus stubborn) T-square which we have been experiencing as of late. Moon adds subjectivity, emotionality, and drama to this story. And if you're going to be sick or have to tinkle ... well, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. But the best is still to come: The First Quarter Scorpio Moon 7:39 p.m. PDT is in the "take action" phase of its journey. Is anything "seething" deep within? Use this day to take a passionate step forward.

The annual meteor showers are visible all night shooting directly into Mars by 4:00 a.m. This is guaranteed to be spectacular. During the next few days, Mercury stations, with Mars squaring it, both in stubborn, fixed signs. Mercury turns direct on August 15, and this moon sets the stage for that contentious turn in direction. Mercury is in Leo, conjoining GW's Pluto, and it may be that the Karl Rove-Valerie Plame situation has gotten out of hand for him. At any rate, the Mars square does push Bush's power buttons. As a campsite of protesters steadily swells in size along a road leading to President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, demonstrators there are facing increased antagonism from locals and opposition from some military families. More drivers are speeding and blaring horns continuously as they pass the camp, which started Saturday as grieving mother Cindy Sheehan's simple peace vigil. It has grown to about 100 people, with more expected from across the nation.

The Sabian Symbol for 21 Scorpio is once again amazingly on the mark.

"OBEYING HIS CONSCIENCE, A SOLDIER RESISTS ORDERS. A readiness to face the results of a refusal to follow the authoritarian patterns of an aggressive society. INNER FREEDOM."

We will all be thinking much about aggression, its meanings, its means, and its results during the next few days and weeks. Consciousness is under siege in this neuropolitical police state, and if you don't want to live your life vicariously through the televisionary archetypes fabricated for "the good of society" (that is, the enfeeblement of the individual), then you have to rely on discrete modes of aberration. Consequently, it seems, the degree of inventiveness to which we've been forced to ascend is matched only by the level of depravity to which we've managed to slide.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 13
We may be irritable today. Moon is VOC in Scorpio until it enters Sagittarius at 12:47 p.m. About that same time, Mercury makes an exact square with Mars, and anyone can fly off the handle at any time, with very little provocation. Guard against over-sensitivity. Don't push the river, cultivate patience, pace yourself. Use this day to seek your own personal truths. Like when a dancing bear takes off its red dress and shits on the floor you too might want to try to refine your methods to achieve your goals.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 14
We still have our difficult Mars-Mercury square, but Moon is in Sagittarius, and with that moon we can override any difficulty. Sag is the eternal optimist. A Mars-Uranus sextile (9° 28' Taurus-Pisces) encourages inventiveness and originality. Instead of struggling with an old method that doesn't work, try something new; solutions arise in unexpected ways. A Sun-Pluto trine (21° 55' Leo-Sagittarius) also allows healing to take place as we learn to share power creatively. Upload everything you think you are onto the great clutter of this virulent cultural undermind rampant with dubious sampled notions and half-digested leftover memetic visions. Aspects are harmonious, and we can enjoy life. We are apt to find ourselves involved in serious discussions, such as the state of the world. How has our thinking grown and changed during the last three weeks of Mercury retrograde? It is not a day for stumbling across town with a peach-pit in your throat. Nevertheless, you may wish to take advantage of a hungry Leo colleague's invitation to dim-sum.

MONDAY, AUGUST 15
Pluto conjuncts Moon (21 Sagittarius) & Mercury (09 Leo) stations direct. What is falling away? Are you resisting or stubbornly holding on? It is time to move into new territory, so allow the old to die and the new to reveal itself in perfect time. In the words of Djwhal Khul, as he often says, "turn loose, let go, and relax." And, for those of you who have been experiencing the frustration of Mercury's retrograde can now sigh. Ahhhhhhh! We can now copulate delicately amongst the Mesozoic ferns at the Sovereign Botanical Gardens, or ride a queer squadron of tiny black horses through the shopping mall with our minds at peace and moving forward. Quality over quantity wins hands down!

TUESDAY, AUGUST 16
Today Venus moves into her home sign of Libra until Sep 11, 2005. Tonight Venus is visible in western sky after Sunset within 16 degrees of Jupiter (now at 16 Libra.) You've probably been hearing a lot lately about the migratory falterings of various Venutian creatures of air and sea. In the face of instinct cutbacks these species are becoming confused, and often fail to successfully navigate the age-old patterns their ancestors so deftly and intuitively executed. Venus has tabled a plan to incrementally raise the instinct awareness levels in afflicted fish, birds and insects. With our lady Venus restoring innate migratory aptitudes, you can rest assured that a flock of monarch butterflies destined for the Transvolcanic Plateau in Mexico will not end up at a truckstop in Langenberg, Saskatchewan. And who hasn't seen news reports about infertile tortoises, hermaphroditic birds, and six-eyed fish? Perhaps you've even caught one of the latter yourself, while casting your line at the cottage. True, for the most part, these abnormalities are side-effects of chemical dumping, nuclear testing, and other human activities - but humans are a part of Nature, and other species are equipped to adapt to the novelties introduced by Homo sapiens. Mutational Versatility has always been a major part of the Venus (wo)mandate. With Venus in Libra, we're thrilled to have the opportunity to put Venutian specialized techniques in the service of her Venutian majesty - to accelerate the evolutionary adaptability towards which all sensible species strive.

Jupiter is now within 7 or 8 degrees of the fixed blue star Spica located in the hand of the Virgin Priestess and associated with the Empress in the Tarot Cards (a symbol of the divine feminine in her strength, fertility, and generative expressions). Here we have an opportunity to connect with the expansive power of Jupiter to renew our vision of relationships and generate whole new ways of relating with ourselves, each other, and life. Also on her agenda is the expansion of her role as chemical supplier to meet the pharmacological needs of various insects, arachnids and cephalopods: bombardier beetles need hydroquinone to stun their assailants, spiders need vortexylene to spin their webs, cuttlefish need customized ink to ... well, we're not entirely sure - but where there's a need for 'alchemy' in the Wild Kingdom, her laboratories will be ready with the goods.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17
With Moon moving into Aquarius and Jupiter trining Neptune we have added help in radically revisioning our understanding of conscious equal partnership and the grand intent of our personal relationships. The idea here is to be conscious about why we are entering into relationships? If we are choosing relationships because we are unconsciously lonely, bored, depressed, or unfulfilled it is doubtful the relationship will ultimately fulfill those needs. If however we are consciously entering relationship and choosing it as - an opportunity for growth, for full Self expression, for lifting your lives to their highest potential, for healing every false thought or small idea you ever had about you, and for ultimate reunion with God through the communion of your two souls - then we are entering an entirely different domain based on the foundation of consciously choosing our experience. This rewrites our current cultural relationship programming in ways that are liberating, beneficial and supportive to all concerned. A diet of cathode rays will not suffice to deaden our glory in these days of mutational versatility. It is time to break the vision barrier.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 18
Tonight is the fullest rise of the Moon and with the exact Full Moon tomorrow morning Moon rise tomorrow night will already be a waning. Tonight the Moon is rising in the East South East (ENE) 10 to 15 minutes before the Sunsets with a low horizon line. This is the second closest to the Earth Full Moon this year and worth witnessing if you have clear skies. (Moonrise is about 6:48 pm and Sun set is about 7 pm). In the Aquarius Full Moon window we have an opportunity to embrace and even instigate change intended to support radical growth.Enough of us are already working around the clock to tear down the brutal vision of misery, the current temporal quotient of suffering, despondency, and total abject dread. The least you can do is be magnificent. Your time has come! Reach through the television haze and strangle those old aeon archetypes. They were beginning to wonder if they'd ever feel your hands around their throats.

Metaversal New Moon Report (August 4-12)

A day late (but not a dollar short)---another illuminating report from Johannes Ayres...

THE METAVERSAL LIGHTCRAFT
HYPER-ABYSSIC ASTROLOGY FORECAST
AND LIGHT SPECIFIC YOGA PLATFORM

FIRST QUARTER MOON
-FIREWEEK-
August 4th to August 12th

This forecast has a fixed meaning that does not change, whether read out loud in a catacomb or read in silence in a control tower... The words grow here slick and filthy and unhindered by enterprise.

ATZILUTH, THE WORLD OF FIRE, THE SPIRIT BODY

The Leo solar energy field enveloped us when the Sun entered Leo. However, the New Moon in Leo starts us on our month-long Leo lunar cycle, what with its four elemental weeks, its Full Moon in Aquarius, its loads of experience upon experience, opportunities to fly, chances to fall. .The seed/ideas we have from the New Moon to the First Quarter Moon come from the kabbalistic world of Atziluth (Fire) and are the blueprints/seeds for everything that exists, has existed, and will ever exist in the physical world of Assiah (Earth), as an embodiment of the archetypal idealized apple (or a least the Core)... This next month is when we focus on developing those Leo qualities within ourselves. We'll learn how to apply/communicate the broad principles of the Leo/Aquarius axis. Leo focuses on the individual creative spark. Aquarius focuses on the creativity of the group. No sign is more concerned with rebellion, reform, and revolution than Aquarius. Will we plan for the future, or continue to run from the past? Will we be proactive or reactive? Use this time of increased light to envision and step into your future, giving yourself and others plenty of elbow room and being tolerant towards the full spectrum of humanity's eccentricity... we reconnect here.

To generate terrific monuments made of coloured sound and we storm the edifices of a dream more incredible than the blooming of a thousand hearts amplified through vacufazers at full speed. Retrograde Mercury conjuncts the Sun on August 5 - an alignment of ego and intellect that makes all thoughts seem important, whether they are or not. August 8 is colored by a Sun-Neptune opposition, the stuff of which dreams (or illusions) are made. Venus, Mars, and Pluto form three hard angles with each other on August 9 and 10; this is likely to intensify relationship issues. On August 12 and 13, retrograde Mercury backs into the picture with a semi-square to Venus and a square to Mars, provoking further discussion and re-evaluation of partnerships.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 4
This New Moon sets the light-specific stage, which indeed all the world is. The angel of dread has wrestled with the Lightpilot and brought her to her knees, and then - the lifting up into the light; until the sasquach stumbles upon the missle silo at dusk, until the Lion's Mouth is opened by gentle hands, until the secret of the Sphinx revealed, and then - the revelation of the Metaversal Harmony. Of course I'm talking 'bout the archetype of Leo - the King: long live the, kill the,...etc. The Lion-serpent sun sign, the power of Will, the quest for authenticity. Leo represents the period of development when as children we begin primary school, which is the first detachment from the family structure, where we learn to make relationships and satisfy the need to be loved in the world. Games provide a way to relate to others and they teach us to accept and make rules, the basis for being able to structure our lives (from 7 to 13 years old). On the World Scale, Leo is between 3,000 to 800 BC when both the Egyptian and Sumerian civilizations flourished, when religion became monotheistic, where one being represented or was, God on Earth. The Time of Pharaohs and Kings, Lion images proliferated in architecture and monuments, for the Lion is of course, King of Beasts. With so much happening in Leo we may be seeking romance with a flare for the dramatic. The electric Sun itself, Leo calls on each of you to shine your light, your singular essence. No one else has seen through your fingertips, felt through your eyes, lived in your skin.

New Moon marks the end of one lunar cycle and the beginning of another. The last two lunations have been in the Work/home axis: What have you created in the realm of Aumland security thus far? This lunar cycle is about our personal creativity/group creativity : What will you create next for us? What will we create next for you? The weird yet revelatory nature of this Leo lunation is reinforced by Jupiter, the Holy Ice-cream vendor's good humoured sextile, and out of boundless Neptune, the surrealist's opposition to the Sun-Moon conjunction. Neptune blurs the boundaries of consensual reality, telling us that thinking does make it so; imagination is real, dreams are real, and there's always more than meets the eye. In Aquarius, the mythic God of the Sea helps us to see below the surface and recognize our commonalities. Uranus in Pisces is quincunx the New Moon in Leo, delivering a similar message: Don't be fooled by appearances. We're all stars now in the Lux show. Playfulness and creativity are plentiful, but a punishing square between Mars and Saturn suggests that restrictions may seem especially brutal for those who lose sight of their responsibilities.

The Sabian symbol for 13° Leo is:
"An old sea captain rocking himself on the porch of his cottage" - suggests that we could all benefit from some relaxation and self-reflection. Crafty Lightpilots will take some time around this New Moon to replay the movie of your life, watching for the lines you missed, the scenes you'd like to retake. Keep a pen and paper around to catch those gems of inspiration.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 5
If you actively invoke blessed HANIEL, the Archangel of Venus into your heart today, you may find you have developed the ability to feel like Khrisna, multiplying himself into a dozen pastoral, naked farmhands with muddy feet and emerald pond scum on their thighs, or maybe you are a young Freya on the back of a panther, eating honey. Mercury joins the Sun and sextiles Jupiter stimulating conversation and generating big ideas, like a shaggy muzzle of a perfunctory dispatch nuzzling your crotch and growling at the same time. Since the information planet continues to move retrograde, expect ideas that have been on the back burner to reappear now. A Mercury-Sun conjunction in Leo represents the tendency to express individual interests without regard for others. However, the Jupiter sextile to Mercury and the Sun increases social awareness, making it possible to widen the picture with outside input. A Venus-Neptune quincunx (16° 17' Virgo-Aquarius) in the morning is a subtle aspect that increases sensitivity to criticism. Vulnerability can be a gift when it opens the heart. Yet, if insecurity and self-doubt dominate, the Mercury-Sun conjunction is more likely to be expressed with rigidity and arrogance. Real confidence allows room for reasonable questions and discussion; fear is often sounded with the voice of absolute authority. Give yourself some retreat time today, and remember: I am a voice made out of chemicals and you can interrupt this dictation by rolling over onto your back then returning to the original position, if you can find it again. This resets the words as a lottery tumbler would shuffle tickets by the revolving of its drum.

Moon continues in Leo, and yesterday's eager energy spills over into today. Important things can be addressed. At 3:44 p.m. PDT, Moon goes VOC until 6:54 a.m. tomorrow. Nevertheless, during the VOC evening, Mercury has its retrograde meeting with Sun. Conjunctions are always seed-planting times, and now we plant seeds regarding the new Leo changes which we want to institute. Whatever calls you from outside the curtain can wait. You're here now, and ready at last to open your eyes. When you do, you'll see that Time is a soft jagged wave moving through you and Space is a malleable domain sculpted by perception. Rest assured: the voluptuous terror you feel swiftly gives way to splendour. The Metaverse is constantly giving us new and different opportunities. For example, Mercury retrograde in Leo, conjunct the Leo New Moon, and immediately followed by the retrograde Mercury-Sun conjunction, is an unparalleled opportunity for new heart growth, for a revival of our true centers. I've never noticed this before. It has got to be rare. For any planets between 11-16 Leo, this is a new lease on life. (This includes Bush's Pluto-his dictator complex--at 11 Leo. All of the New Moon's energies are still operative. Moon has moved along a bit, crossing Mercury, and now it has a very close trine with Pluto, showing that power can easily be expressed. This is a special opportunity for each of us to "get ourselves together," to figure out who we are and where we stand, and to express that self. Perhaps we are the Cowardly Lion who really did have courage. Suddenly you will re more awake than you've been since retiring from the womb. The secret phenomenological truth, encrypted against corruption at your birth but now transmitted lucidly across every synapse, is that the World is determined by imaginative volition. How much love can one being express? Now that this has been revealed, your purpose is clear. You might as well get used to it: YOU ARE A GLORIOUS NEW REALITY!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 6
The Day of Saturn in the kabbalistic World of Air and Activity, Yetzirah. Wearing Black and facing North, invoke the spirit of Johnny Cash into your Base Chakra (The Malkuth "Lil' World" Morphogenetic Field Transceiver) with the mantrum. "Because your mine, I walk the line". Honor Saturn today by creating greater stability in the Metaverse, actively expressing or experiencing your security needs, and cleansing and strengthening your base Chakra Today marks the 60th anniversaries of the US atomic-bomb attacks on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In Hiroshima, an estimated 80,000 people were killed in a split second. Some 13 square kilometres of the city was obliterated. By December, at least another 70,000 people had died from radiation and injuries. Three days after Hiroshima's destruction, the US drooped an A-bomb on Nagasaki, resulting in the deaths of at least 70,000 people before the year was out. Since 1945, tens of thousands more residents of the two cities have continued to suffer and die from radiation-induced cancers, birth defects and still births. A tiny group of US rulers met secretly in Washington and callously ordered this indiscriminate annihilation of civilian populations. They gave no explicit warnings. They rejected all alternatives, preferring to inflict the most extreme human carnage possible. They ordered and had carried out the two worst terror acts in human history. The exact sextile of the Sun and Jupiter on fosters a generous spirit that should be applied to oneself as well as others. At 6:54 a.m., the Moon enters Virgo, marking a shift away from the fiery creative impulse of Leo toward a more practical approach to life. A Venus-Saturn semi-square (45° angle of challenge) is aligned with Virgos more skeptical perspective. Ideally, this pair can help us to turn our hopes into reality. However, its easy to back away from newly emerged ideas; practicality can be an excuse for snuffing out our nascent dreams. Caution is called for, but it is best used in the service of creativity, not as a barrier against it. There are two reasons for this. One is a secret and the other is a lie. Our Metaversal thunderbolt of revelation resembles a corkscrew in more ways than One.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 7
With Moon still in Virgo, we continue to keep ourselves busy. Today we want to break out of routine, and do our own thing. It might be catching up on paperwork or reading, tinkering with things around the house, cooking up a great meal, or enjoying nature. If you live in Alaska, watch for the new Moon to cover Venus tonight just before sunset-an eclipse of Venus. However, it will be hard to see the pair close to the horizon. The Sacred Priest and Priestess, Fred and Ginger tap and glide around you, floating ubiquitously from hand to hand. The music peaks, the two lovers kiss, and you are set afloat down the stream ever so conveniently located right next to the hotel, thereby quickening your perception and access to your divine inheritance and sacred work. There is nothing flexible about the way you look at me between those big blue ice sculptures.

MONDAY, AUGUST 8
The Sun opposes Neptune (16° 12' Leo-Aquarius). Inspiration and imagination are the gifts of this aspect; dissipation of energy is its challenge. Individual will and self-interest face off against sympathy and compassion for others. The Sun in Leo is about the power of personal expression, but this power can be used foolishly without a sensitive reading of how others may react. The Moon entering the relationship sign of Libra at 7:08 p.m. increases our awareness of others and our desire for peace and sharpens our social and diplomatic skills. However, the need to objectify emotions can limit spontaneity and cause us to lose our way in our attempts to please people. Moon goes VOC at 3:09 a.m. PDT, and remains VOC until 10:08 p.m. tonight. Will we be rattled by Venus eclipse plus VOC moon? Especially since Moon and Venus are both moving in to square transformative Pluto? Most likely earthy Virgo Moon can help us to stay on course. Around Noon today, Sun and Neptune finally have their long- promised exact opposition. There is consciousness with an opposition, but with Neptune, that consciousness is apt to be an illusory dream. Neptune mystifies, and may well confuse, whatever it touches. Denial and escape are also major qualities of Neptune's touch. This is the major aspect of the month. We are talking now about the influences on the Sun. The Sun is the center of the solar system, the director of activities here on Earth. Clarity now is almost impossible.

Some bees may appear in the room shortly after your work is completed while you relax with a hash joint-we can't work out whats attracting them into the room. But what will be really strange is that one will suddenly sting you on the bum. How and why it got in your pants is a complete mystery! You take it as a sign to do the HML initiation ritual and we perform it this evening. Downsides include exaggerated fears, destructive lies, environmental damage, and extreme beliefs that lead to violence. When he claimed he would destroy the world with a lemon tart, did they put him away because they thought he was crazy or because they thought he might succeed? Potential positives (thankfully) can be the healing revelation of secrets or mysteries, transformation of our vision, and the presence of empowering teachers whose light lifts us out of the darkness. Kiss the Bushies goodbye and pin a note to your blazer: New Moisturizing HorseTM from the Devil®. It comes in the mail and it won't leave your walls hairy, or your arteries unburnished.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 9
A Mars-Pluto sesquiquadrate (135°) whips the air with intensity and passion. Although Libra likes compromise, the force of this Mars-Pluto connection works against cooperation; were likely to act as though theres only one possible path to follow. If anger arises, use it to clarify what you really want, so you can cut out activities that distract you from fulfilling those desires... leaning my face down next to yours, whispering strange words into your ears... sounding like some sort of archaic language, and something like the sharp razor tones of German words that make no sense whatsoever, but God! They do something to you... Slipping my tongue around your earlobe, in sweet soft little circles in between slow hot breaths... increasing in rate as I press against your body... Sensing my skin emanate that unbelievably hot boy-pheromone... feeling all that ultraconfident power and smug satisfaction in me up against you - I'll put you in the body of a lynx and I'll put you in the body of a raven. Maybe I'll even put you in the body of a wasp if you'll fit. God you are hot...

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10
Relationships may become even more complex today with a Venus-Pluto square (21° 58' Virgo-Sagittarius). Moon is in Libra. Libra represents the period from 23 to 42 years old, when partnerships are made and balance is sought between others and oneself. On the World scale Libra is between 400 and 1100 AD, when division of the church and state took over, and the Dark Ages swept over Europe and Asia. The opposition is symbolic of the fact that in order to emerge from the unconscious, internal conflicts must be brought out into the light of day. Marriage was the primary process through which opposing countries where integrated into a whole. With the Moon in Libra we are aware of our communal relations, law, justice and balance. The 7th house (Libra) has been called the house of marriage. The key to the New Aeon of MA'AT is figuring out the new symbol for Libra, as the institution of marriage was originally designed as a tool by the Church to secure it's future domination. Those that cannot find this new symbol and perform these symbolic rites on themselves and their tribe, and the whole fabric of material being, will inherit only the blues, decay, and husks. Think more in terms of partnership and remember, your heart must be light as a feather. Take this time to be good to your Libra ruled kidneys. These amazing organs filter some 400-500 hundred gallons of blood a day. Lemons, beets, cranberry juice and cabbage and leafy vegetables are all healing to your kidneys. We should not underestimate the power of Earthritual/ interlock/ and the focused magnetism of emotion. If we would like less catastrophic weather change, this is specifically the engineering we must learn. Like man, the weather participates or partakes of both Earth and Sky. These planet-wide weather up-heavals are literally and specifically, collective emotions. Only if we can emote collectively and braid our ecosystems with coherent emotion can we save our future. This is no arbitrary test for survival of our genepool. It is the perfect test. If we can learn to braid electrical space with the harmonics which love weaves, then we have passed the "ring pass knot" gate to the privilege of doing that same activity for the braid creation of star systems and galaxies with our similar but much unpacked and blossomed electrical bodies. Love is not just a good idea, it's the Law.

Venus and Mars are also sesquiquadrate today, describing increased awkwardness in personal relationships. The friction of conflicting values and contrasting methods can rub us raw and leave us dissatisfied. There is, however, a stream of creativity available to those who are willing to brush aside the debris of disappointment and look more deeply into themselves. Art and love both benefit from a willingness to accept the challenge of change and the need to face desires and dislikes that don't match old ideals. Romance can resurface when we change our behavior and expectations regarding relationships.Connect tonight with the zero point between Metaverse and Lightpilot through a moment of folded compassion. That timeless feeling that occurs when ones focus is completely in the present encompassing the folded space of the past and futures. As an iceskater who brings in her arms to speed up and have more spin, the thought tentacles that are brought from past and future to present and centered, concentrate intense spin AND AWARENESS. Here in the center of the lightening of spirit lies the infinite information hook-up which living cells require to survive. This electric fractal information con-centricitywhispers the meaning and direction of a "long-wave" context. The long wave connection to all that is.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 11
At 5:35 a.m. the Moon enters Scorpio, home sign of Mars and Pluto. This heats up the complex relationship issues that have been set aflame recently. Resentment may surface all too easily now. It can be useful to bring up these matters, but blame and shame arent helpful. Take a good look at what you want and what youre doing to get it. Maybe you're going after something out of habit rather than true desire. The kind of partnership that you seek has a price, but when you know you're aiming at the right target, you'll do what's necessary to get a bulls-eye. Letting go of old methods and styles of behavior could help to make this happen. We are starting to see that everyone we know, ever knew, and ever will know, are psychically linked to us through our emotional bodies. The stronger the emotion, the stronger the link. People can normal shut this fact out, particularly if their is much in them being repressed. Tonight, there will be no denying the cosmic connection between every living thing and each other. Some people will derive deep, spiritual significance from an ordinary everyday experience this evening, while others barely blink when a miraculous event happens before their eyes.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 12
There's a buzz in the air with Mercury quincunx Uranus. Conversations go askew, information comes to us at odd angles, and nerves grow taut. A Mercury-Venus semi-square at the same time makes communication edgy. Being open-minded helps us to react without snapping and to adjust to the unexpected with graciousness rather than anger. The Scorpio Moon forms a First Quarter square with the Leo Sun at 7:39 p.m.; this normally adds to the tension. However, Pluto's trine to the Sun suggests creative ways of avoiding a potential battle of wills.

Ah! The Hopeful Pageantry of Bread and Puppet
New film by Dee Dee Halleck and Tamar Schumann

This film is drawn from over 200 hours of footage shot at the Bread and Puppet Domestic Resurrection Circus from 1990-1998. Neither a straight documentary nor an "educational" rendition of theater history, Ah! is more like a Bread and Puppet film, one that captures the spirit and essense of this influential theater group.

Bread and Puppet has shown we can create new worlds, starting with very humble and accessible tools such as cardboard and cloth. The collective spirit and the magnitude of their vision have been a source for people all over the world.

The Sex Album

Jessica Vale is a multimedia artist based in New York with an output spanning film, video, songwriting and audio. Collaborating with Croatian-born musician/producer Ivan Evangelista and musician Jean-Luc Cohen, Vale unleashes her debut album on an unsuspecting public. Normally this wouldn't be such a big deal, but this album comes with a twist: it's made entirely from the sounds of people having sex.

Women's Voices: Heard More Easily

Study: Female Voices Easier to Hear

The human brain processes male and female voices differently, according to a recent study that looked at how the human brain reacts to male and female voices.

The research explains why most of us hear female voices more clearly, as well as that we form mental images of people based only on the sound of their voices. MORE...

What Is Circuitbending?

This is a great little video to watch.

The process is totally adorable to me on so many levels because I love to take things apart and now have a few close friends who are actually beginning to show me the ropes in working with wires and solder and stuff like that. Finding this website and the 'lil video really hits particularly close to home for me at this moment because as of tomorrow, I begin the mass assembly of 1000 circuit-bent little sound modules for my WTBTN project. Wheeee. Takes my mind off of 'Ol Chimpy Cokesniffer, at least for the moment...

Oh and by the way... dAS? Don't you know Not Breathing?

Bush endorses teaching 'intelligent design' theory in schools

President Bush waded into the debate over evolution and "intelligent design" Monday, saying schools should teach both theories on the creation and complexity of life.

In a wide-ranging question-and-answer session with a small group of reporters, Bush essentially endorsed efforts by Christian conservatives to give intelligent design equal standing with the theory of evolution in the nation's schools. MORE...

Fuck. My job's gonna get a whole lot more insano after today. Just when I thought it would be a nice, calm summer (ha).
