WOMEN TAKE BACK THE NOISE
WTBTN Circuit-bending Assembly KICKOFF!
Over the past weekend, several of the local women-noizers who are on the comp gathered here at my house to kick off a series of circuit-bending parties that will take place each weekend until all 1,000 sound modules have been assembled. We've definitely got our work cut out for us, since there are so many tiny working parts involved (not to mention a ton of soldering and repetitive handwork). Ohhh, but it will be very much worth the wait. It was certainly nice to get to spend some creative time with everyone who showed up. This initial gathering involved the generous efforts of the following WTBTN artists:
Cheryl E. Leonard
A.L. Dentel
Ava Mendoza
Elise Baldwin
Thanks so much for volunteering your valuable time and helping to build this very special project!

In related news, all of the artist cards arrived a few weeks ago and between dAS and myself, we were able to spend a few sleepless nights collating and packaging up all 25,000 cards (whew!)
Here's a SNEAK-PEEK at the cards while we were working on 'em.
Also, there have been a lot of folks writing in and asking about a release date. At this point, there is still a very large amount of manual labor involved with the circuit-bending. Until we get closer to the finish line on all of the assembly, it's not quite possible to toss out a date just yet. We're really not out to tease anyone here-- just being honest. It's a very small group of us here who are working on this stuff (most of the time it's just myself). UBUIBI is not a label. It's a collective of artists, musicians and various projects put together on a grassroots level and a shoestring budget. We do this out of the sheer love for what we do and most importantly as community-building and exercises in creativity.
I hope you will enjoy watching this process take place as we edge ever closer to manifesting a finished release that will hopefully blow some minds.
More updates to come...
