Listen to Neil Young, Help Stop the War

"We don't all have to believe what our president believes to be a patriot"
-- Neil Young

Early this morning, TrueMajorityACTION began offering free streaming audio of Neil Young's new, surprise antiwar album in it's entirety.

Though he wrote the defining protest anthem of the Vietnam era, Young initially supported President Bush's "war on terror." Like most of America, though,1 he says that what is happening now in Iraq is just plain wrong.

Take a listen to a powerful voice for ending the quagmire, and while you're there you can raise up your own -- TrueMajorityACTION members today are launching a push behind a new Senate amendment to get our troops out of Iraq by New Year's Day.

The amendment, introduced by Sen. Russ Feingold, says that Congress will only hand over the latest $68 billion that President Bush wants for the Iraq War if his administration gets the troops out by Dec. 31st, 2006. It would support the troops, but not the unending war.

This is a great chance to bring more people into the growing movement for sanity in Iraq. So check out the album, sign the petition, and tell your friends.

V...

Oh man is my mind blown to bits. Just got back in from seeing V For Vendetta and had to say something about the experience, albeit short. Wachowski Brothers-- you done us proud. Boys did their work and even though there were changes both added and extracted from the original comic series by Alan Moore, the changes were important to the story as it is retold to us in film (different than reading on paper, in my opinion). So much more I could say but your experience with this film will speak for itself.

And oh yeah, don't let me forget this part-- did you know that if you type http://v into your browser's navigation field it will auto jump you straight into the V For Vendetta home page? Those guys thought of everything...

Tachiguishi

Not out of pure laziness but pretty much because I'm just worn out and out of time, I swiped this terrific review (via ÜberBlog) which alerts us to an upcoming new release from Mamoru Oshii (of Ghost In The Shell fame). Looks tremendously weird. I can't wait:

"Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, Blood the Last Vampire) has completely lost his mind. What an excellent treat for us! Oshii has turned his focus to his life-time passion, an endless quest for the ultimate fast food that no one has ever explored before. The film, slated for release in Japan in Spring 2006, is based on the original novel written by Oshii himself and serialized between 2000 and 2003. Behold Tachiguishi! "Tachigui" literally means "standing and eating". It is a word that may find a rough English corresponding in the expression "fast food". Fast Food Grifters are the phantoms that rise and fall with the shifting diet-styles. They are the dissenting heroes that left their names on the dark side of dietary culture with their glare. Now their legend revives, strong as ever..."

Drawing Restraint 9 (trailer)

The core idea of Drawing Restraint 9 is the relationship between self-imposed resistance and creativity, a theme it symbolically tracks through the construction and transformation of a vast sculpture of liquid Vaseline, called “The Field”, which is molded, poured, bisected and reformed on the deck of the ship over the course of the film.
