iPod filling stations...
I was having this conversation a year or so ago with a friend of mine while we were out shopping at a local record store and talking about mp3's versus vinyl or cd, etc. I had just gotten a free iPod shuffle from my bank for cashing in some reward points (whee) and I had this sudden idea about how record stores could boost their sales a bit (maybe) if they were to have some sort of iPod kiosks around the front area for after you purchase your cd. Once you bought the disc you could pay to use the kiosk to rip your new cd onto your iPod and therefore have a way to listen to it as instantaneously as when we used to all carry cd walkmans around (and cassette walkmans before that). I'm sure there's some huge issue surrounding licensing or Apple would probably be all over it by now.
Well, of course there are things like this well on their way. One example is here in this article I just happened to catch as I was googling around for various iPod related things.
