Expelled (No Intelligence Allowed)

I already loathe this movie for more reasons than I care to go into on my blog...
Already from the trailer I can tell it's basically the same scenario as when Christians complain about being "victimized" here in America because of certain laws set in place that keep church and state separate. This particular grouping of whiney people have gathered together to make a film where they complain about not being "allowed" to teach their particular spin on how the universe was created (aka "how we got here") because of some "silly laws" protected by Big Science.
Pardon me while I reach for the Alka-Seltzer so I can expel some of my own hot air...
Need I mention that the production house who put together this film solicited my employer in the early stages of development to ask if they would be interested in doing an interview, but in doing so, failed to mention the angle of their film (which they were calling "Crossroads: The Intersection of Science and Religion" at the time).
It's very sneaky to do interviews under false pretenses, in my opinion, but it doesn't seem like this film will actually help the ID crowd too much with their cause, and in fact, it might even punch a few more holes in their um, theory...
You can get even more background on how the interviews were put together for the film, plus a whole lot more information by reading PZ Myers' posting on his excellent science blog, Pharyngula.
I wonder if any of these ID-pushers have thought about how many hours longer a basic public school day would have to be if ID and other "alternate theories" were to be introduced into the curriculum in addition to "hard science". In fact, while we are at it, why don't we just replace the entire curriculum with ID? I never liked gym class much anyway, but it really would be a shame to have to give up dissecting frogs in order to argue about whose reflection I'm seeing in the mirror...
